A note to parents
Since we, as homeschoolers, believe it is the parents’ responsibility to teach their children, we at The Homeschooler’s Helper advise parents to personally check out all websites included here before allowing your children access to them. Some contain information that some parents may not want their children seeing. Only you can decide what is appropriate for your children.

GetWiseNet.org is a public service website brought together by a wide range of corporations and public interest groups whose names are used in households in America every day. This coalition was formed to give people raising children guidance to using the Internet to the children’s safety and best interests.

GetWiseNet.org offers information on Internet child safety, online risks to children, methods for controlling spam, keeping your computer safe from viruses and hackers, and how to involve law enforcement authorities when you suspect trouble online. Included in the child safety section are a wide variety of links to family-friendly online resources including links to websites featuring museums, Internet libraries, games, entertainment, information about homeschooling, colleges and family support organizations. Find help in the Tools for Families section for filtering violence or explicit information and for monitoring your child’s time on the computer, including a sample computer use contract to be signed by each child and parent.

A website chock full of good links, GetWiseNet.org, seems to be a welcome contribution to the public from many companies we all use virtually every day.
